FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions for Workshops

WHO SHOULD TAKE SOULWORK WORKSHOPS?

  • Actors, poets, directors, dancers, writers/playwrights and performance-makers.
  • Artists with various levels of experience are welcomed.
  • Artists who have trained in SoulWork before or have experience in other techniques are encouraged.
  • Artists seeking to reinvigorate their practice and/or broaden their horizons.
  • Artists who want a strong introduction to SoulWork and are interested in continuing training to intermediate and advanced levels.
  • Artists ages 15-18 should register for those workshops specifically designated for youth.
  • SoulWork Workshops are intensives designed for working artists and/or artists-in-training. PT also offers K-12 public school workshops and university/community lecture series for discussion-based events through our Generation Progress program. If you have questions, about which program or offering may be right for you, your group or your program, contact us!

WHY WOULD AN APPLICATION BE WAITLISTED?

SoulWork is best taught in small, intimate groups. Usually, if an application is waitlisted it is because we want to keep the groups small and have run out of space.

HOW CAN I GET MORE INFORMATION AND/OR ASK SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORKSHOP BEFORE REGISTERING?

We strongly recommend attending an Online Info Session, usually offered 3-6 weeks before a workshop begins. Sign-up for our Email List to receive announcements and updates about upcoming workshops and info sessions.

CAN I APPLY FOR AND TAKE MORE THAN ONE WORKSHOP?

Yes! All SoulWork Workshops can stand alone or be taken together to compliment each other. . Interested artists may apply for and take as many workshops as accommodate your schedule.

WHAT ARE THE AGE REQUIREMENTS TO TAKE A WORKSHOP?

For Youth Workshops: Participants must be 15 years old to apply. Artists and creatives younger than 15 years of age are not eligible for this series of workshops, but stay tuned! We plan to offer summer workshops and Saturday classes for all ages in the near future.

For Adult Workshops: Participants must be 19 years old to apply. Our Adult workshops are designed for working artists, those studying theatre on college and graduate school levels, and creatives seeking introduction or ongoing access to professional theatre training.

HOW MUCH DO THE WORKSHOPS COSTS? DO I HAVE TO PAY ONLINE? DO I HAVE TO PAY THE TOTAL FEE UPFRONT?

Because PT often partners with training programs and organizations to offer SoulWork Workshops, fees can vary based on several factors. For example, sometimes universities and/or training programs present a SoulWork Workshop that is free for their students; or theaters and conferences may co-sponsor a SoulWork Workshop at an additional/subsidized price to attendees. PT generally offers independent intensives starting at $150/week which included daily 3-hour classes from Monday-Friday. Need-based scholarships may be available.

For an independent PT-sponsored workshop, participants may choose to pay the full workshop fee when you apply. Or, you may pay only the application fee when you apply and then pay the remaining balance upon notification of acceptance into the workshop. Payment in full can be made via PayPal, check or wire/ACH transfer and is due before the first day of the workshop. Paying online via PayPal is secure and the most convenient form of payment. If you would like to pay by check or wire/ACH, please email us at info(at)progresstheatre.com.

HOW DO DEPOSITS WORK? IS MY DEPOSIT REFUNDABLE IF I DECIDE NOT TO TAKE THE WORKSHOP?

Typically, a $25 deposit is required to apply to the workshops. There are no double application fees. This means you can apply to multiple workshops with one application/fee.

    • If you are waitlisted for the workshop, this deposit will be refunded in full.
    • If you are accepted into the workshop, this deposit will go towards the cost of your workshop fee.
    • If you are accepted into the workshop, but choose not to participate, then this $25 deposit is non-refundable, but any additional tuition paid will be refunded.

    HOW DO REFUNDS WORK?

If you pay the full workshop fee and you are accepted but choose not to participate, you will be refunded the cost minus the $25 application fee. If you pay the full workshop fee and you are waitlisted, you will be refunded in full.
